About Soccer Cinema
An independent magazine that explains South African football in plain language, with its sources in view.
Where we come from
soccercinema.co.za began in 2010 as the home of Soccer Cinema, a travelling festival that screened football documentaries in community halls, schools and churches in small South African towns before the FIFA World Cup. Those pages are kept in the festival archive.
What we do now
The magazine carries the same love of the game into practical guides: how promotion and relegation work, how AFCON qualifying is organised, how to become a referee or a coach, and which football films are worth your evening. Each guide lists the official sources it was checked against, and where rules, formats or sponsors change, it points to the governing body for the current version.
Independence
Soccer Cinema is independent. It is not affiliated with the festival's former organisers, with SAFA, the PSL, CAF or FIFA, or with any club. Partner content is always labelled.
