Before the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Soccer Cinema toured South African towns with a mobile cinema and a programme of football documentaries. These pages keep the record of that journey.

Soccer Cinema is an epic celebration in preparation for the World Cup...
The FIFA Football World Cup taking place in South Africa during June – July 2010 is a unique and very special event. It has the potential to unite South Africans as no other event since democracy was established in 1994. In the months before the championship it is vital that everyone feels part of this. One way to achieve this is to inspire South Africans by screening documentary cinema of soccer stories to audiences across the country as an insight into famous players, teams as well as highlights and events from history. Soccer Cinema will show films in community venues through a travelling cinema in towns across the country in April and May 2010. This mobile bioscope will target small towns that will not be able to experience the World Cup live, towns with special histories and Fan Parks across the country.
The films screened were sourced from broadcasting commissioning editors and filmmakers from across the world to provide access to the best documentary films ever made about soccer.
Between 4 and 10 June, some of these "soccumentaries" will be screened as part of SOCCER CINEMA AT THE LABIA in Cape Town. For details on the screenings see the schedule below and read synopsis under the "films" section. Entry is R30. Daily screenings at 6.15pm & 8.15pm.
